What Should I Expect?
As patients of our practice, you and your family can expect:
-
Flexible and affordable payment options
-
Customized treatment plans
-
Convenient location
-
Emergency dental care
-
New office with advanced technology
During your first visit with us, we will ask you to provide us with information in order to get to know you and the state of your dental health. We will review your medical records, any existing dental records, and ask relevant questions about your lifestyle. We will also take digital X-rays, which will help us make an accurate assessment of the current state of your oral health and determine whether any immediate problems need to be addressed. You will also meet and speak with Dr. Brian Shin, our experienced Glen Ellyn dentist, about your dental health and any concerns you might have.
Your Dental Exam
New patients undergo a comprehensive oral exam to determine if any treatments or procedures are necessary for maintaining optimal oral health. We will use a periodontal ruler and x-rays to screen for gum disease, and may also pass an intraoral camera over your teeth and soft tissues to evaluate for other oral health issues.
Full-Service Dental Practice
As a leading dentist in Glen Ellyn, Dr. Brian Shin offers a full range of treatment options for patients who need general dentistry services, cosmetic dentistry services, and emergency dental care. We also take the time to educate patients with preventive care plans and will work with you to ensure you are getting the best possible results from any recommended treatments.
How Long Is the First Visit?
The length of time for your first visit with us will vary depending on whether you are visiting us for an examination + consultation alone, or if you will also undergo a dental cleaning or any other treatments. Typically a first visit will take between 30 minutes to one hour; please feel free to ask us for a time estimate before or upon your arrival.
What to Bring to Your First Appointment
We encourage you to bring medical records, any dental records and x-rays from your previous dentists, a list of current medications, and your insurance card with you on your first visit with us. If you find that visiting the dentist makes you feel anxious, we also recommend bringing along soothing distractions such as a fidget spinner, or music and headphones!
